Tell me a little bit about your educational and professional background.
I picked up my first video camera when I was 10 years old. It was love at first sight. It was one of those bulky VHS camcorders. I spent my entire life making movies and experimenting with video production. The same goes for photography, graphic design and music production. 90% of my skills were self taught through years of determination and experimentation.
I did graduate from the Graphic Design program at Spokane Falls Community College in 2011, which rounded out my skill set in that field.
I have been doing freelance professional video for about 10 years. I began working form myself full-time in 2015. Prior to that I was bartending part time while building my business up.
What do you love about what you do?
I love telling stories. My passion for what I do stemmed from wanting to be a storyteller and filmmaker. My approach to video is, “what kind of compelling story can I tell about my client?”. I also love being able to use my skill-set to solve creative problems. It’s really rewarding when I nail it and the client is very happy with the product.
What do you like about working for SCC?
I love the flexibility in the projects and the freedom to create. I feel like Katie respects what I can bring to the table and allow me to unleash that on projects.
What do you do in your spare time?
A perfect Friday night for me is acquiring some fantastic craft beer and getting my friends together for some complex and thematic board games. I also love going on hikes with my wife, Becky, and Boston Terrier, Enzo. The beach is my safe space haha. And I read A LOT! I love learning and if there was one overarching passion of mine, it’s reading and researching to understand the world more and more.
I am equal parts total nerd and outdoorsman. I am just as content cuddling with my wife not the couch blasting through the latest Legend of Zelda as I am going on a mountain bike trip or ski trip.
