I know you! You are unique, you stand out, you are a masterpiece, a true work of art. You deserve to be seen as such. So, let’s make sure your online presence reflects that! Your Instagram account will regularly be used to express your brand. It speaks to your level of professionalism and has the potential to give you solid credibility. Instagram is the modern-day portfolio.
Here’s a quick checklist you can use to keep your brand en pointe:
– Choose an Instagram grid layout. This makes it so that when your audience goes to your page, they instantly know your brand. The work that goes into this can either be quite simple or extremely complex- it’s completely up to you! Just make sure you pick something you can reasonably keep up with. Here’s a post that can give you some ideas of layouts. You can use different apps to play around with your layout prior to posting it online. My favorite is the Preview App.
–Utilize only high resolution photos and videos to be seen on your layout. Leave the rest for Instagram stories or to be used in multi-photo/video posts following a high-resolution image.
–Choose a color palette and stick to it. Choosing a handful of colors (we suggest no more than 2-5) to stick to for every post is pleasing to the viewer’s eye and makes your layout look beautifully intentional. If you don’t already have specific branding colors, think about the colors you naturally gravitate towards, the colors you find yourself always wearing or enjoying. –Use #hashtags so people can find you! Many IG users follow hashtags so those posts will appear on their feed. This will also allow Instagram’s algorithms to display your posts to users with similar interests to discover you!
–Use those captions to engage your audience with rich content. Did you know that your Instagram caption can be up to 2,200 characters long? One of the factors that affects how your Instagram post performs in the algorithm is the time viewer spends on your post. There is always an opportunity to say something meaningful.
Start with a juicy, enticing line that draws users in to clicking the “more” button and reading the rest of the post. Then, using a call-to-action is a great way to gain engagement by encouraging users to comment on your post. Alternatively, you can ask your audience to “follow the link in my bio” to visit your website or watch your latest YouTube video! Linktree is a free program that allows you to use more than one link in your Instagram bio.
As far as the content of each caption, choose a 1-3 themes that you can write pages about and stick to those- this can encourage dedicated followers. A great example of this is @cirquephysio.
